James

James Nutt

Head of Lab Operations

James is one of those rare people whose connection to an organisation goes right back to its very beginning. Having been with Cansford from the start, he left for a period to share his expertise as a senior lecturer at the University of South Wales before returning to take up his current role as Head of Laboratory Operations. It’s safe to say Cansford is very glad to have him back.

With a career built entirely around forensic toxicology and hair strand testing, James brings a depth of knowledge and experience that few can match. That expertise is recognised well beyond Cansford’s walls. He sits on a number of prestigious committees, including those for the DVLA, the Society of Hair Testing (SoHT), and the Secretary of State for Transport’s Honorary Medical Advisory Panel on Alcohol, Drugs and Substance Misuse and Driving, a role that puts him at the forefront of national policy in his field.

Outside of work, James is currently renovating a property, a project he is throwing himself into with considerable dedication. He is, however, reportedly done with choosing paint colours.
